DETRITUS (2015 - 16)

A series of performances in galleries and museums in the UK and Europe recorded thorough photography and moving image.

In these works Miller applies mud onto her body as an emblem of freedom. The mud envelopes her in an entropic camouflage that transforms her into a golemesque figure. Displaced in the white cube gallery space she activates the mud to disrupt hierarchies. Her action brings the outside inside in, in a dirt meets clean collision that undermines social order.
