CONSCIOUSNESS TO FLESH (2015 - 16)
Two performances to camera recorded through photography and moving image.
In ‘Crucifix/ Plinth’ Miller’s naked embodied thinking seeks to deconstruct classical sculpture in antiquity and reposition the female nude with an active sense of agency. Her actions were developed with a sensitivity towards the shifting of light in relation to her form. The heron’s wing bone signifies a desire to look underneath appearances as way of unearthing the monumental and reminding us of the human condition.
Materials: heron’s wing bone; dirt; wooden chair legs; metal beams; marble powder
